Wars and Fights…

Wars and Fights…

When sin begins driving the bus there is nothing but trouble ahead. We already know, in our hearts, that we are outside the lines and should stop – but somehow we press forward.

For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. ~Romans 7:15 NKJB

We know we should pray, but we do not. We want to turn our lips away from drink, but we do not. We want to turn our eyes away from lust, but we do not. We want to put down our fork, but we do not.

We are at war with ourselves and with the Spirit. We allow fear to harden our heart, instead of allow His love, His Light and His Truth to fill and guide us.

Pride, false pride, tells us bigger is better. False pride tells us we “deserve” to be noticed, we “deserve” a raise for our work at the office, we “deserve” a promotion at the office and we “deserve” our moment in the spot light. This is how we fail. This is how we are never once satisfied with any accomplishment. It is not our accomplishment, it is His victory that should be our focus. Why can’t that be enough?

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? ~James 4:1-5 NKJB

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
