How Much Faith…

How Much Faith…

How do we increase our faith? When we fast do we move closer to Jesus and / or increase our faith? What does fasting have to do with increasing our faith?

And Jesus said to them, “Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. ~ Matthew 9:15 NKJB

It is immediately after Jesus explains fasting to the disciples of John that He begins healing a number of people for a variety of situations. Some of the versus are widely known and widely quoted. What is the connection between fasting and an increase in faith? Is there a connection?

So the Lord said,If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you. ~ Luke 17:6 NKJB

With faith the size of mustard seed how far would we be carried? What if we carried undying faith? What if our faith were so strong that we knew that if could simply touch the hem – not grasp the hem, not stroke the hem, but merely touch it – we would be healed? How far would that carry a person?

And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said,Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. ~ Matthew 9:20-22 NKJB

What if for one full day a person, with every breath, held the faith as the woman that had a flow of blood of 12 years? What would happen? How would a person accomplish this goal?

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
