Unselfish Humility…

Unselfish Humility…

Living a life of sin makes a person very self-serving, self-centered and selfish. It just goes with the flesh. A person thinks about their needs over all else and, especially, over all other people in their life. Other people are merely a tool to attain a goal.

When coming to Christ and being born of the Holy Spirit life looks different. Selfishness doesn’t seem to fit the way it did before. Self-centeredness begins to morph into concern for others. Self-serving transforms into service of others.

Serving others makes for humility. Serving others, in any capacity, paints a picture of value. Other people suddenly have a value that was previously unseen and completely unknown. All-the-sudden love looks a lot different, love acts a lot different and words begin to carry actual meaning.

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. ~Philippians 2:1-4 NKJB

Only when we begin seeing others as children of God will our vision change. Once our vision begins to change, we have an opportunity to soften our heart and welcome a new beat, a new rhythm forms that attracts like-minded.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
