Laid Hands on Them…

Fellowship is amazing. We are made, in the eyes of God, to be with one another. We are intended to be with God, in His presence, with His children. Don’t think for a moment the evil-doers don’t know and fully understand this aspect of the Truth, they do.

There is little else that can bring us together better than being together in His presence. There is little else that can strengthen our faith, our love and provide us the platform of repentance, that leads to redemption, more than togetherness in His presence. When we are together, pray together and worship together, in His name, the power of the Holy Spirit can reign down and change lives.

As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. ~Acts 13:2-3 NKJV

The power of touch is so strong it is mentioned in the form of “laying on hands” in a number of versus’ throughout the Old and New Testament of the Bible. Why wouldn’t we want to hold hands, embrace and show affection for those we care about. God wants us to do exactly that. God wants us to perform these acts in His name, in His presence. God wants us to perform these acts at a casual level and at a ceremonial level. Why does it take two people to conduct a Baptism in the Holy Spirit? Why can’t a person simply go down to the river, stream or pond and baptize themselves?

When we are in fellowship in His presence in His name, nothing can forsake us, no harm can come to us, the feast is set and our Father has set the table.

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us:

‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”

Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.
And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. ~Acts 13:44-52 NKJV

Either the Gospel is divine inspiration, the Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
