Somedays…
Once in while we get shown the Light,
in the strangest of places if we look at it right.
~Robert Hunter
Somedays we have no idea our lives are going to change while others we know it will change we just have no idea the impact of the change. For example, marriage, we know the day and time our lives will change, it’s the degree of change that is in question. Death, on the other hand, could come at any time. We have no clue of what will happen. We pray, we make plans and we attempt to move closer to the Light, the Way and Truth everyday in order to be prepared for “the great change”, but in reality we have no idea what awaits us. Somedays are more successful than others, but we are always trying to move closer to God so that He will see His work in our hands, hear His voice on our tongue and feel His love when we touch another of His children.
This past Friday, April 17, there was a situation that happened that was a huge re-minder (resetting of the mind) of who we are, what we are and what is going on in this life. It was one of those moments of clarity that pushed aside everything else and there was a sense of calm and quiet that can not be described. A great many out there know about this sensation and have experienced to one degree or another. Friday was a moment that went on for more than an hour.

We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
We are like the passengers of a great liner the moment after rescue from shipwreck when camaraderie, joyousness and democracy pervade the vessel from steerage to Captain’s table. Unlike the feelings of the ship’s passengers, however, our joy in escape from disaster does not subside as we go our individual ways. The feeling of having shared in a common peril is one element in the powerful cement which binds us. But that in itself would never have held us together as we are now joined.
The tremendous fact for every one of us is that we have discovered a common solution. We have a way out on which we can absolutely agree, and upon which we can join in brotherly and harmonious action. This is the great news this book carries to those who suffer from
alcoholism[sin]. An illness of this sort and we have come to believe it an illness involves those about us in a way no other human sickness can. If a person has cancer all are sorry for him and no one is angry or hurt. But not so with thealcoholic illness[sin], for with it there goes annihilation of all the things worth while in life. It engulfs all whose lives touch the sufferer’s. It brings misunderstanding, fierce resentment, financial insecurity, disgusted friends and employers, warped lives of blameless children, sad wives and parents anyone can increase the list. Source
It is when repentance comes over our lives, it is the moment we look to Jesus Christ as the “Captain” and we are the passenger. It is the moment when we come to accept the fact that we are nothing more than a spirit of God made manifest in this world that we become free of this world. It is when we accept the fact we are His ambassador and represent His word that all else falls away. This is the moment of great joy. This is how the sinners become free of their sin – when they own them, confess them and turn them over to the One who can forgive them that we no longer carry them. At that moment sin no longer defines who or what we are, Jesus Christ defines who and what we are. The Light shines bright and as long as we move closer to the Light it will only get brighter and brighter. As we move away from it, as we already know, the Light begins to dim. Don’t let the His Light go dim – press in, move closer and look for Light in those strange unexpected places.
