Hope and Prayer Provide Guidance

When a person is flopping around like a fish out of water, moving from this situation to that situation, usually saturated in a sinful life, there is almost no hope in that persons life. The sad part is, rarely do they even know it or realize how hopeless their situation has become. They endure anyway.

As time progresses, as it always does, the misery begins to surface, the heartache is heightened and the pain of suffering transforms a life of blissful ignorance into a life of hopelessness and darkness. This is when the choices begin to appear. Some choices are beyond anything we ever believed could / would be part of our psyche. But there they are…lined up like hyenas ready to pick at a carcass. There is no fear like the fear of being in a place completely devoid of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. There is no deeper sense of loneliness and shame than when a person realizes they have turned their back, intentionally, on God. Of course, while this is happening few people realize what is happening. The enemy is driving the bus and has full control over the broken mess that used to be human.

We know the answer, we know where hope and joy live, we have the address – we simply refuse to make the journey, until we have no choice.

We had to ask ourselves why we shouldn’t apply to our human problems this same readiness to change our point of view. We were having trouble with personal relationships, we couldn’t control our emotional natures, we were a prey to misery and depression, we couldn’t make a living, we had a feeling of uselessness, we were full of fear, we were unhappy, we couldn’t seem to be of real help to other people was not a basic solution of these bedevilments more important than whether we should see newsreels of lunar flight? For those that make it out “there’s no sound louder than a captive set free” The thunderous shockwaves when the shackles hit the floor is something that must experienced to understand. We hear stories but they are like looking at an image of a community hit by a tornado and being engulfed in a community hit by a tornado – there is, literally, no comparison. The overwhelming sense of joy when the chains break…humility is a good beginning, but it’s just that, a beginning.

James 4 NKJV

1 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
