He Made Haste And Came Down…

He Made Haste And Came Down…

At what point in time are we saved? It is during baptism, it is during a moment when the Lord, Jesus Christ, comes to us in secret or can it be anytime during our life, like playing golf or walking down the street? Could we be up a tree and before we climb down we are saved?

Saul was saved while traveling to Damascus or was he saved, transformed, after he went to Ananias’ house? Was Saul saved at the moment the scales were lifted from his eyes or when Ananias baptized him or when the Lord first spoke to him on the road?

and he (Saul) fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you persecute: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what will You have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told what you must do. ~ Acts 9:4-6 KJB

It seems that Saul was saved in the name of Jesus Christ while on the road. Why else would Saul, not yet Paul, ask Jesus What will You have me to do? Saul has not been touched by the Holy Spirit as this point, but he will be soon.

Zacchaeus was the head tax collector in Jericho when Jesus and the multitudes passed through. As Jesus passed through Jericho Zacchaeus climbed a tree for a better look. When Jesus saw him up the tree He called him to come down immediately. When Zacchaeus had climbed down, he was filled with joy to meet Jesus. Was Zacchaeus saved as he climbed down to greet Jesus? Why would Luke point out that Zacchaeus was “joyful” about meeting Jesus if there wasn’t a transformation during this moment? Zacchaeus immediately repented before the Lord, Jesus Christ, and set straight wrongs he had committed in the past.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. ~ Luke 19:5-8 KJB

When were you saved? Can we point to the moment when we were saved in the name of Jesus Christ? For those that have been touched, can we point to the moment when the Holy Spirit touched us, fell upon us? Is it important to our lives to remember these two moments and when they happened? It sure seems to be important.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
