Unless You Are Converted…

Unless You Are Converted…

We all want to get into Heaven and a lot of people believe they are going to heaven because they have been baptized, saved and they have repented.

A person that has gone through the 12 Steps of AA has a slightly different walk out of the fire than those that didn’t chose this path. Jesus is leading the way and holding your hand for the entire walk. The deeper into the 12 Steps a person dives, the deeper the relationship with Jesus. Not saying this these people are on higher ground, stating their approach is different than most, nothing more and nothing else is to be taken from that statement.

Another aspect of going through the 12 Steps is there is, usually, another person guiding the Steps. This is important as that person not only helps the path be clear, but that person is a witness to what is happening. Remember – For where 2 or 3 are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. This happens in a different way when we are in our prayer closet, our secret space or when we are alone in prayer.

Jesus seems to be very clear about entering into Heaven in Matthew 18. The disciples have ask about being the greatest in Heaven and Jesus sets them straight with a very clear answer. One of the few times He answer directly a question.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said,Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. ~ Matthew 18:1-3

Never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed, but that seems to be about as clear as it gets.

When going through the fire of baptism and repentance, in the presence of others (witnesses) the weight that is lifted can not be described. The giddiness that overcomes our heart is that of a little child. Your lighter on your feet than one ever thought possible. Nothing is impossible, nothing can bring you down, problems seem to evaporate right before your eyes.

The world is waiting. The devil and his minions are waiting. The constant barrage of negative “it won’t last” “you’re riding a pink cloud” instead of having people encouraging us to dive deeper the world is waiting to drag you back to same spot, only, this time, the one tool you relied upon – drugs and alcohol – are gone. We have to learn to rely upon Jesus Christ and nothing or anyone else. Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God are the only friends, the only comfort and the only voice of reason during this transitional time. We are like a little child; alone, 100% dependent and confused. Jesus Christ is the only refuge we can find. He wants us for the rest of our lives to remain in this same position. Seeking the Kingdom of God first in all our affairs.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
