I Bear You Witness…

The Truth can be difficult on people, even people that are following Jesus Christ. The Truth is the one thing that does not change, it is infallible and doesn’t belong to any one person but, rather, belongs to all people. It can be brutal at times and, other times, it can be as tender as a lamb.

The Truth can make people uncomfortable when it comes to greet them at an inopportune moment. We all want to be free from our sin and live a godly life. We all like to think of ourselves as being Holy all the time. We are not, we are sinners to the end. We need grace and mercy every single day and, for that reason, God renews our mercies every single morning. As we begin a new day we are granted, by God, a new set of mercies specific to that day. We don’t deserve them, however, God’s infinite wisdom knows that we do, in fact, need them every day.

What then was the blessing you enjoyed? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me. Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? ~ Galatians 4:15-16 NKJB

One moment people love us on a level that is hard to imagine and in the next moment, after the Truth has shown up, we are despised. Nothing changed. There was no action that fouled the air, but yet, we are thrown to the curb like yesterday trash.

This is the power the Truth has in our lives. This is the Power we need in our lives all day, every day. We need to harness the Truth that lives in us, that Truth has a name, the name of Jesus Christ. When the Truth shows up, at just the wrong time, we should humble ourselves and remember the moment just before we would have plucked our eyes for Him. Nothing changed except our heart.

Keeping our heart aligned with Jesus Christ is how we stay close to Him, live in Him and remain under His wing. It is our heart that needs transforming. It is the Mind of Christ we should seek, first, to keep our thoughts feeding our heart the Truth as Jesus sees it, delivers it and teaches us to embrace it.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
