If You Can…
Sometimes we just need to pray. Sometimes prayer is the only answer to a situation that is happening in our lives. When we pray we believe. When we pray there is no question about our faith. When we pray there is no question about our belief. When we pray we are with Jesus Christ; we are feeling the presence of the Holy Spirit and we are connected to God. Our belief is not in question.
And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” ~ Mark 9:21-22 NASB95
The dad of this young man shows Jesus, tells Jesus, his faith, his belief is in question. His belief is too weak to help his son. His lack of faith is keeping him from praying over his son. His lack of belief has kept him, for years, from praying this demon out of his son.

We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
How many of us suffer this same lack of belief? We have a loved one that is demon possessed, drugs, pornography, gambling, infidelity, etc. etc.etc, and we do not pray for them and we certainly do not pray over them. Is that not what is happening right here? The dad wants his son to be free from this demon but he doesn’t do the basic – pray. Not only that, and we all do this, the dad questions Jesus’ Authority and Power. Jesus is the Great I Am and He can do all things, as we can do all things through our belief and faith in Him. The man says “But if you can…”
And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” ~ Mark 9:23 NASB95
Jesus says this to us, we just fail to hear Him. When belief is low, or weak, Jesus knows it; Jesus says so right there.
We fail to pray when prayer is the only answer. We fail to pray when prayer is the single most important aspect of our relationship with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and God Himself. Pray without ceasing is how we change our world.
And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.~ Mark 9:28-29 KJB
When we see one of God’s children suffering with a demon of addiction, or sin of any kind, we should pray and watch how our belief in Jesus Christ changes the atmosphere.
Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
