I Wish It Were Already Kindled!…
We don’t speak much of violence during this time. Why is that? If one reads the Holy Bible, especially the Torah, or what is commonly referred to as the Old Testament, one finds a great deal of violence. We also find it in the New Covenant, or the New Testament, not as much, but it’s there. Our world is a violent place. Anyone that is paying attention to what is happening already knows this. It is our responsibility, as believers, followers of Jesus Christ, to know what is happening in our world. Our priority is to know God, fear God and love God. How can we do this if we have no idea what is going on in the place He created?
Jesus Christ is the Healer. He is Living Water. Jesus is the Light of the World. Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. He is the Vine, the Door, the Lamp the Groom and a great many other names / titles. Mostly when we think of, or are conversing with, Jesus Christ our image is of a gentle, caring soul that loves us very deeply. Jesus is this as well. Jesus Christ is the Great I Am. He is everything. Everything encompasses a lot – both good and less than good.
“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. ~ Luke 12:49-52 NKJB

We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
Has this message ever been delivered on a Sunday morning? Ever hear the Pastor step to the Podium and lay this down before the congregation? Yeah, not sure that it has happened in some time. Pastor’s don’t deliver this type of message because it hurts the plate or the box. Not happy talk about what Jesus is going to do for everyone. How Jesus is going to love everyone back to health.
The Words above, in red, are from Jesus Christ – we didn’t write them nor say them, He did.
Was Jesus attempting to the get the peoples attention? It sure seems like it. Highly effective way of speaking into a unidentified crowd of people that seem to be going nowhere, doing nothing and having no love for God in their heart. Why not get their attention, they are already lost to begin with? The thing is, most of the unidentified crowd think they are known. They sit in the pew, they sing the songs and they pray the prayers. Jesus seems to be saying – so what?
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ~ Matthew 7:22-23 NKJB
It doesn’t get much clearer.
Jesus goes on to explain what is happening and why this is being said, why this is happening and the reasoning behind His words. Is anyone paying attention?
Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time? “Yes, and why, even of yourselves, do you not judge what is right? ~ Luke 12:54-57 NKJB
Once again, not mixing Words, Jesus goes straight at the “multitudes” – the unidentified crowd – and doesn’t paint a rosy picture of how beautiful life is going to be. No, Jesus tells them they are completely lost because they are doing nothing about human trafficking, CRT being taught in schools, sexual deviants running rampant and teaching our children they are not a boy or a girl but whatever they want to be, no one is voicing concern over the corruption in local, state and federal government, no one is voicing their concern over something as ridiculous as “defund the police”, or lawlessness running rampant in several of our major cities.
Jesus is the One speaking not us. Jesus is the One telling us we are not paying attention to the time we live in. Jesus is the One pointing out we have no Christ identity and we are not paying attention to the fact that we have no Christ identity while we sit in the church, pray and sing songs – we are 100% lost. These are not our words, these are the Words of Jesus Christ.
Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of God, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
