He Can Speak Clearly Enough…

He Can Speak Clearly Enough…

When we confess our sinful ways before another human being in the presence of Jesus Christ we are clearing space for God to enter our lives. Every person that has ever been, that currently is and all future beings have the ability to worship. God, in His infinite wisdom, built into our being a space for worship. God also left it up to us what to put in this space. In other words, we can place God in our worship space or we can place any number of idols in this space. Some call it a “God sized hole” or a “worship basket”, how ever it is referred only God fills the space 100%, everything else falls short.

The above is an echo of what the Apostle James wrote

Therefore, lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. ~James 1:21 NKJB

We must clear this space as we go through our day. We could place work, exercise, pornography, food, art, drink, TV, other gods, football / sports, womanizing and the list goes on and on. The “worship basket” will hold as many items as we put in it with each new item pushing God out allowing Him less and less space with new item or every minute spent away from His direction.

When we “lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness we are, in fact, turning our will and our life over to the care of God which means we have a responsibility to listen to what He says about our day, our job, our life, our spouse, our home, our children and every other detail of every moment of every day. Nothing is to be left to chance. The “worship basket” is now beginning to be refilled with Our Father God and the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

Is God less able to guide us to-day?

Our aim, remember, is to put our lives under God’s control, and find out whether He can speak clearly enough in our hearts for us to know the steps He wants us to take. In all probability there are things in our lives which will have to be cleared up before God can really take control; and the first word God says to us will be about these. At any rate let us begin by sitting quietly for a few minutes thinking of our life in the light of what we already know of God’s will. ~Source

James goes on to say that we must – must – confess our sinful ways…

Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. ~James 5:13-16 NASB95

When we confess our sinful ways, we are clearing the “worship basket” of the debris that blocks God from our lives. When we unblock God’s rightful place in our lives He will then speak directly with us.

An effective way to know if this is true is to do it for ourselves. We can confess our sins – all of our sins – to someone. We can pray. We can get quiet and listen. We can hear, even the deaf can hear the voice of God. We can, in a practical sense, do these things that will change our lives. It is not a test, it is practical evaluation that will show to anyone the depth and breadth what the Holy Bible has to say. The Way, the Truth and the Life await.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
