GNN Note – After working with addicts, and homeless folks, for close to two years, the one thread that runs through it all, is mental illness. If people have what an open heart, open mind and haven’t allowed their addiction to get ahead of their mental illness there remains an opportunity. However, if a person with minor mental challenges saturates their system in drugs and alcohol for several years, the mental challenges become the main challenge. / END

In this VMHM we will dispel myths surrounding addiction and substance use disorder, hear personal stories of strength and resilience, talk about the role of creativity in healing, and learn about local resources for treatment and support
