Our Time Is Now…

When people accept and believe in the Living Word of God as they accept and believe in Jesus Christ, Emmanuel is the Son of God sent to be the savior of the world, we should remember we are His sons and daughters. We belong to Jesus Christ. We need to keep in the forefront of our hearts and minds our identity is in Christ, the Messiah, and no one, or anything, else.

We are not a member of the local football team, even though we know all the stats, the players and all the other worthless information that has nothing to do with our lives. What about shopping, excessive TV viewing, excessive knowledge and participation in exercise, excessive hours at work? All of these things can be a great distraction, in very small amounts, but they should not become “who we are”. We should never be known as the person that can “tell you about______” that has nothing to do with faith. Or the person that’s always at the office or gym as these are replacements for faith in Jesus Christ.

So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. 23For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ Therefore what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. ~Acts 17:22-23 NASB95

We do not worship a god that we can build, we can see or is some random idol to the “unknown god” like drugs, alcohol, pornography and all the rest. If it is our focus, it is our god. If it is how we are known, we are separated from God, we are committing acts that do not honor our Almighty God, Father of All.

We were born at this time, in this place for His purpose. It is not an accident that we were born, when, where and to the parents that raised – or didn’t raise – us. God does not make mistakes. God chose us for His purpose. What is that purpose in your life? If a person believes they were born to know football stats, they are lost and may never come back until the very end. If a person can not look at society and know there is something profoundly wrong and begin to seek their Christ identity, that person is blind and refuses to see. We should pray for them that they awaken before the end arrives.  Jesus Christ is right there beside them, if they would only chose to receive his mercy, grace and redemption.

The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’ ~Acts 17:24-28 NASB95

If a person believes in the Creation, Fall, Rescue and Restoration, they believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Emmanuel. If a person believes this and doesn’t act upon it, that person is not honoring God, that person doesn’t have a healthy fear of God. That person is living a double minded life.

Saul, transformed into Paul right before our eyes in Acts 9. Saul ask Jesus Christ a very simple question in which Jesus Christ responded immediately. If you ask Jesus Christ, seek the Kingdom first and knock upon the door of Christ’ wisdom, you, too, can be transformed. It may not happen in a flash and you probably won’t feel the earth move – you might, but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t happen – but you will be convicted to Jesus Christ, a bondservant to Him and His children. “What do you want me to do?” is what Saul ask. You can ask this question, for any topic, any situation, any life event and Jesus Christ will tell you. “What do you want me to know?” is another great question to ask so that one binds the will of the Father to their own will. Who doesn’t want to know what the Father’s will is for their life?

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.

This was inspired by my Pastor, Senior Pastor, Bob Cook, The Church at Grace Park.
