From The Ashes…

From The Ashes…

As we grow older our lives can move in a multitude of directions. Some of us will have a solid foundation to stand upon. Dad and Mom, siblings all in one house with an abundance of love sprinkled around for all to get their fill. Some of us, and unfortunately an increasing number of us, come from broken homes. The love we experienced at birth, and were assured would last our life, seems to evaporate into the ether somewhere along the line. Most of us, as children, never wanted or expected for love to abandon us – it just did.

What we were given as small children, the love of Jesus Christ, the love of family and an identity in our community that is now tainted. Drugs, stealing and a host of other sins become the norm and the sprinkling of love is nowhere to be found. The foundation is cracked and we find ourselves on shaky ground.

It is at this point we “shall raise up the former desolations“. Generations shall be laid bare for the world to see. The Lord our God will not leave us – never. He may, however, let some of us enjoy our pity-party a little longer than others, but at some point in our lives He will send an angel, cause an accident or send us to jail in an attempt to get our attention. Something will happen, something to get our attention, and a decision must be made. Those with eyes to see will find the beauty of our God in the wreckage. We will turn back to His loving mercy and grace to find salvation. Others will not, when all that is necessary is to receive His love and breathe in His beauty.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. ~Isiah 61:1-4 KJB

We will glorify our God and raise His name above all names, the name that set us free. We shall bind ourselves to Him and He to us. We will be His lamp-stand that radiates His Light for others to find the Way. The ashes will be seen as a guide post for others. The oil will soften hearts as joy resonates in those with ears to hear. For our captivity in the Lord, Jesus Christ, will be freedom that makes us to live.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
