Doing The Hard Stuff…

Doing The Hard Stuff…

How long are we suppose to be defiant? How long does it take for someone to succumb to their weakness? How long do live with fear, guilt and shame? What does it take to humble ones self to the point of grasping for the Truth?

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. ~James 1:5-8 NASB95

Why should we expect anything when “out of the heart of men proceed the evil thoughts“? Are we not double-minded and unstable as the ocean waves?

Confession and repentance clear the path. When we are ready to admit our shortcomings and ask God to remove them, God, through Jesus Christ, will remove our fears and remove these defects of character. We need to be humbled into confession and repentance in our heart and earnest go before God, and another human being, to confess what is blocking us from God.

Arrived at this point, we were squarely confronted with the question of faith. We couldn’t duck the issue. Some of us had already walked far over the Bridge of Reason toward the desired shore of faith. The outlines and the promise of the New Land had brought lustre to tired eyes and fresh courage to flagging spirits. Friendly hands had stretched out in welcome. We were grateful that Reason had brought us so far. But somehow, we couldn’t quite step ashore. Perhaps we had been leaning too heavily on reason that last mile and we did not like to lose our support. Source

When we have stones in our heart it is difficult to allow God room to work in us. When our heart has hardened the point that we can’t even see what is going on we are in real danger. It may look simple, it may seem like it’s not a big deal but the fact-of-the-matter is it is a big deal. Our relationship with our Father is a big deal. When we can’t hear God speaking to us during our quiet time, prayer time and mediation the veil is closing, the eyes of the heart are darkening.

On our knees is where the change begins. Followed by confession to another human being in the presence of Jesus Christ. This leads to repentance and redemption.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
