Imagination, Worship and Prayer…

Jesus Christ was hung on tree outside the gates of the city, where people went when they didn’t belong, and as His life ended Jesus Christ gave up His reputation for me and for you. Let that sink in. Jesus Christ died, minus any reputation, for me and for you.

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. ~Philippians 2:5-7 NKJB

And we concern ourselves with a new position at the office, a missed TV program or spending another pile of cash on some frivolous item? Seriously!? Would you do the same, as Jesus Christ did for you, would you do the same for one of your friends, a stranger or for your parents / children?

We must let this mind, the mind of Jesus Christ, be in our imagination. The teachings of Jesus must be with us and allow our imagination during worship and prayer, to let Jesus flow through our veins, flow through our hearts and flow through every fiber of our being. See Christ flowing through – see it in your imagination. We can do that and once we do that Jesus will become more real in our lives. Jesus will flow out of the intuitive mind – the imagination – and flow into the logical mind – reasoning – and become manifest in our life.

…And it went to the mans heart…And he says, Jesus Christ lost everything. He was crucified outside the gate. He made Himself of no reputation and He did that for me. Why in the world am I worried about my status and my reputation? And he was freed.

You see what he did was he took it to the center of his imagination… not just here, I believe it (pointing at his head).

If you don’t get it into your imagination, and if you don’t do it regularly through worship, through thinking, through applying it at the moment it doesn’t go to the top. ~Tim Keller

Jesus Christ does not go to the top of our thinking, does not go to the center of our heart, does not break us out of our addiction, our “cultural captivity” that names us, unless He is in our imagination and running through our reasoning. We can say “I believe it.” the same as Mr. Kellers’ friend was doing…but until we own it, until it is in our imagination, regularly, constantly, Jesus will never become part of our reasoning mind and we will continue to live in the identity of the culture instead of our true Jesus identity.

We must get our identity from Christ Jesus. We can only do this in community, from Christ Himself and never, ever from ourselves, from society – which is where 99% of us get our identity – or from anywhere except Jesus Christ. When we learn our true Christ identity this is called being born again. Ask Paul, who was Saul. Ask Peter, who was called Simon. Or ask Gideon, who Christ named as His “mighty man of valor”. Ask them from where they received their identity. We are not allowed to choose our identity, even though we try and most people think they have picked their identity, when in fact, the culture picked it for them.

See Jesus Christ, live with Jesus Christ and speak with Jesus Christ – allow your vision of Jesus Christ to invade your heart, mind, spirit and strength and watch what happens.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
