God and The Holy Spirit…
You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. ~James 4:2-3 NKJB
It’s funny how our mind can be triggered and the next thing you know we look up and two hours have escaped us as we spend time with the Father, ABBA. By embracing God and studying His Living Word we find ourselves immersed in His Spirit – the Holy Spirit / Holy Ghost.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” ~Luke 11:13 NKJB
What stood out is the Father give the Holy Spirit that lives in us. It does state that God is giving us anything, but gives to the Holy Spirit.
In Matthew we find something different…
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! ~Matthew 7:11 NKJB
In Matthew there is no mention of the Holy Spirit. This may suggest something altogether different is happening. This singular verse, presented from the perspective of two different authors, paints two completely different images. One verse states the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God who lives in us will receive and the other states the “gifts” will go directly to “who ask”.
If someone ask for healing of a physical ailment and someone ask for a new job, these are two different situations that require two different approaches which, potentially, have two vastly different outcomes. Healing is not transportation and vice-versa. The two verses from James suggest we may be asking the wrong thing and expecting something that will never arrive.
Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
