Passing Through Normal…
The good news is the wild maniacal swings are long past. The bad news is the swings from high to low still exist. As the pendulum swings from side to the other it passes through normal. It’s rare that it hangs around very long, but on occasion it will stick for a few hours and sometimes up to a few days.
The problem is prayer. Not that prayer is a problem, the lack of prayer is the problem. We are designed to be in a constant state of worship. We are usually really good at it, the bad news is what we are worshipping.
Paul, once again, teaches us about idolatry or said another way… worship
Now is your chance to support Gospel News Network.
We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. ~Colossians 3:5 NKJB
There is a cure for this, there always is, and Paul turns immediately to the solution and how we, the children of God, are to turn to prayer, psalms and hymns in our hearts to banish the desires of the flesh and get back to our worship of the Lord.
Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. ~Colossians 5:6-11 NKJB
So, as we pass through normal on our way to high or low, maybe if we pause, pray and give thanks for the many blessings in our day, maybe, just maybe we can hang around normal a little while longer.
Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
