Why Do We Serve…

Why Do We Serve…

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” ~Hebrews 6:10 KJB

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. ~Galatians 5:13 NKJB

Serving with a glad heart and singing praise to the glory of God is how we expose ourselves to His will in our lives. When we serve others, in His name, there is something happening within us. The Holy Spirit is working, doing and delivering. Is this why we do for others? Of course not. We serve others because we don’t know what else to do. We serve others because it’s the right thing to do. We serve others because we have been called to serve.

When we begin serving out of a sense of self, or for gain, the whole reason for serving is lost and instead of being a joy it becomes an overbearing burden that we must endure.

Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God. ~Ephesians 6:17-21 NKJB

Singing to glorify God as we serve. Whistle while we work. Constant contact with the Lord as we improve a situation, as we help another, as we march up the hill to gather our brother and carry him to safety.

Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
