Into The Fire…
Living a life of sin a person find themselves in continually in a dumpster fire. The only problem is, since they are in a dumpster fire all the see is the blue sky above their head. As soon as they look around, well, the fire, the space and all the garbage is easily seen. Another problem arises at this point – it’s easier to look at the blue sky than the dumpster fire they created, they fuel and they themselves see as being “fine” or “under control”.
Living a life of sin, be-it a slave to alcohol, pornography, gambling, overeating or idolatry it’s all same – sin is sin, The form it takes, may be important to someone, just not God. Your back is turned to God for whatever reason and this hurts Him.
So the satraps, the administrators, the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces gathered together for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Then a herald cried aloud: “To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up; and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.” ~Daniel 3:3-6 NKJB
Living our sinful life we bow to gods and begin to worship these things. They are merely things, but they begin driving the bus – running our lives. We fall pray to wickedness when we thought we were just bowing to some silly gold image. It is when we refuse to do this, it is when we realize what is happening that God, the true God, will intervene and make it all come to a halt. This is the time we learn about sacrifice, meddle, honor and character.

and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. ~Daniel 3:11 NKJB
Faith, the Love of God and grace through Jesus Christ, is what keeps the fire at bay and helps the person actually walk out of the fire. There have been hundreds of times when it was an honor to tell people that it was Jesus Christ that opened the door and pulled this life from the fire of my own making. Climbing into the fire is how Jesus Christ handles dumpster fires of our making.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore, because the king’s command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?”
They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”
“Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” ~Daniel 3:21-25 NKJB
We must make a decision about who is in charge of our life. When we reach the conclusion we shouldn’t be in charge, we come to know Jesus Christ a little better; we come to realize that our power is nothing but His Power is all. We come to realize that if we step out of the way He will pull us from the fire and place us in a loving, safe place.
Either the Gospel is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
