Who Heard the Word Believed…

We are bombarded with information all day, everyday. We hear things all day long. The noise, at times, gets to be overwhelming. The quiet, the still small voice is easily drowned out. It is our responsibility to make time, to create space, to show respect to our Father, Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who walks with us everyday all day.

Who is that speaks to us in the quiet? If we are given two ears and one mouth shouldn’t we be listening twice as much as speaking? Doesn’t this apply to our quiet time as well? It is called “quiet time”, one would presume, so there is a certain quiet that allows us to hear. How do learn what God’s will for us is if we are talking to God instead of listening to God?

But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, saying, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. ~Acts 4:16-17 NKJV

When God speaks through us, no one can deny what is happening. We must listen for the Word of God, for the Holy Spirit to fall upon us, to deliver His word. Even the highest “authorities” had to recognize “that a notable miracle has been done through them“. Does God speak to us today?

And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, who by the mouth of Your servant David have said:

‘Why did the nations rage,
And the people plot vain things?

The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord and against His Christ.’

For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” ~Acts 4:23-30 NKJV

What Word do we hear?

Either the Gospel is divine inspiration, the Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
