We’re Grateful For One…

We must remember to seek, ask and knock when the enemy (devil/satan/lucifer) makes his presence known to us, usually by calling us by a false identity like the names spelled out below. Once we accept this lie, he usually morphs into something else. Our responsibility to our Father is to call upon Him for guidance.

When one person comes to Jesus Christ, is filled with the Holy Spirit at our church, it’s a big deal. People rejoice, celebrate and sing praise for someone being reborn in the Spirit. Please don’t misunderstand, it’s a big deal. We do this in honor of one person, what would happen if we could have 50 or 100 or 1,000 or 5,000 in one session? Can you imagine thousands of people being filled with the Holy Spirit on a Sunday morning during service?

Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. ~Acts 4:1-4 NKJB

Having been part of a great many rebirths, a slightly different take than the usual dunking under water, the men turned their lives over to God. If they hadn’t they would not be sober. Once they did get sober, through the love of Jesus Christ, if they reversed course the weight of guilt, sin and self-loathing would lead many of them to suicide. This is not an uncommon end to someone who “re-lapses”. Remember, sin is the separation from God. If we are separated from God, the enemy has an easier time convincing someone who they are not – unworthy, unfaithful, demented, failure, terrible dad and the list goes on and on and on.

Losing sight of God and what God does for us – gratitude – makes it easier for the enemy to run our lives. When we remember we are a child of God, that He is in control, sovereign and our faith is our rock, the enemy must back down, must quiet his tongue and leave our presence.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”  ~Acts 4:8-12 NKJB

If we are to fully live, it is through Jesus Christ righteous name that we find peace, hope and Light.

Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
