Obedience and “Why” Questions
Why me, Lord? Why, Lord, have you done “X” to my family?
Getting to the source, the root, of these questions is how these questions, before God, get answered. In the search, it will be revealed that the real questions are not “why” questions, but altogether different questions that are based on Truth.
And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried out to the Lord because of the Midianites, that the Lord sent a prophet to the children of Israel, who said to them, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I brought you up from Egypt and brought you out of the house of bondage; and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of all who oppressed you, and drove them out before you and gave you their land. Also I said to you, “I am the Lord your God; do not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.” But you have not obeyed My voice.’ ” Judges 6:7-10 NKJB

We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
If we are disobedient of the Lord’s voice, the Lord’s word, and we go before Him to complain and fuss, this almost always comes out as crocodile tears. Maybe not crocodile tears, but not tears of humility or tears that seek God’s Word, that seek God’s help, that seeks God’s guidance. “Why me” is a lot different than “strengthen me“. Why me is complaining; strengthen me is seeking – “What do You want me to do?” was the question that Saul ask of God. “Why me” was missing in action.
When we are obedient to God good things happen. Suffering is still part of life, if we don’t see the Beauty of God in all things we are accepting defeat, but as we see the Beauty of God in all things God’s strength and power begins to manifest in all things. We accept our weakness as part of our life instead of shouting to the world, even in the worst of circumstances, that God is in charge and His Beauty will strength our heart, mind and soul.
When we humble ourselves before God Almighty and seek His beauty and His counsel He responds quicker than we know how to pick up the pieces. When we turn away from God and attempt to walk out on Him, first of all He is still there, second, He will never leave you under any circumstance but He will allow us to exercise “free will” and fall into any trap we set for ourselves. How many times does this exact scenario play out in the Bible? How many?
This has happened in my life. This can happen in your life, if you want it. This is not some magical mystery tour presented by the Jesus Appreciation Club, this is how God works.
Either the Scripture is the divine Word of God teaching us how to live and how to be a reflection of Him, or it’s nothing more than a historical account of events.
