When God Speaks…
There is a book titled, When Man Listens by Cecil Rose
by Cecil Rose
Everyone can listen to God.
When man listens, God Speaks.
When man obeys, God works.
When men are changed, nations change.
When is listening to God a good idea? Are times of trouble an appropriate time; or times of plenty? What about the in-between times? What about right now – is this moment an appropriate time to listen to the word of God?
Now is your chance to support Gospel News Network.
We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
If we spend time, all the time, listening for the word of God what would we hear? Would it always be God speaking or would it be the voice in our head – should we seek professional help to silence the voice? Should we seek guidance from someone that has been listening for and to the word of God for a great many years?
Having been introduced to this idea close to 20 years ago doesn’t mean anything other than being aware of the concept. The times of life that have been the most productive, the most fulfilling and, above all else, most joyous, have been the segments of life when the Lord was sought throughout the day and night. When prayer and the word of God were the driving force. When the voice cried out in the wilderness of my soul, our Lord did not disappoint.
When serving the men at the Mission God speaks loudest. When seeing life through other eyes God shines His loving light brightest to illuminate the path for all concerned.
Throughout each day choices make themselves known. The approach for each choice is determined by listening or not. While listening there should be an overabundance of yes and when the exact opposite occurs the results are the exact opposite as well.
Just as a baby, laying on his fathers chest, is comforted by the sound of the fathers beating heart, we too, should be comforted by the quiet and stillness of our Fathers voice and heartbeat for us.
Isiah 40 NKJV
1 “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!”
Says your God.
2 “Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her,
That her warfare is ended,
That her iniquity is pardoned;
Is. 61:7For she has received from the Lord’s hand
Double for all her sins.”
3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make straight in the desert
A highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough places smooth;
5 The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
And all flesh shall see it together;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
6 The voice said, “Cry out!”
And he said, “What shall I cry?”
“All flesh is grass,
And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
