122112 – The Great Change Began?
For those that were paying attention a few years ago, somewhere around 2010, we began hearing stories of the Mayan calendar and the “world coming to end” on 12/21/12. Well, as everyone knows that didn’t happen. The day came and went and here we are today. There were a couple of problems with all the noise surrounding that date and what the Mayan calendar foretold. The calendar, which is in German museum, is broken where in the exact place that was suppose to point to the events of that day and what was to come. The other problem is the calendar, the part which paints the picture didn’t actually state the “world would end”, but rather the world would change. This, to say the least, is very different from all the hype, news stories and noise surrounding 2012.
Fast forward to today and with the gift of hindsight we see our world has changed – globally – in a very dramatic fashion. Look at the politics, people around the world standing up, Christianity on one hand rising like a flood while at the same time persecution has never been worse. Economies around the world are failing and with our economies being tied together on a global scale, well, you can see this is, once again, a massive change around the world.
We have events unfolding today, 1/8/20, that say our world could possibly change forever. If two world powers can’t find common ground and allow cooler heads to prevail our world could forever change in ways that no one is prepared. The war that is seemingly brewing between Iran / Iraq / Israel and Washington DC could change everything, quiet literally, in a flash – a nuclear flash. Not saying this is going to happen and don’t believe for a minute that it will happen, I am saying it is very much a reality we live with.

What does this have to do with our devotion to God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit? Well, everything.
The enemy has been having his way for a very long time in this world while God has allowed it all to happen. We see these changes happening that are far reaching, societal changes, that will impact generations to come. As these changes continue to unfold it seems we are becoming more and more divided as we become more united by the day. What I mean is there seems to be tribes or factions or groups that seem to be gravitating while at the same time we become more divided as these different “tribes” grow.
One last thing about the Mayan calendar – in the 1,500 years of it’s existence, it has never been wrong about a celestial event – not one – and it stated the world would actually end in the year 3,025. That’s approximately 1,000 years from 2012.
Revelation 20 NKJV
1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 He laid hold of he dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
Is this what is on the horizon?
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Since no one but the Father knows when Jesus Christ will return it seems to be of little importance. It does, however, put the affairs of the day in some context that helps me to see the glory of God and know the King of kings is in charge. The pain and suffering we see and experience today is of little consequence when we know in our heart-of-hearts that we are bathed in His mercy and His grace.
