He Who Loves God…
This week has been really awesome for bible study. Being focused on I John (NKJV) as the repetitive nature of the chapters works really well as it drives home the teachings we need to understand. The Book of James is really good at this as well, but it seems that John may have James beat!!
The next time someone puts an argument to attending church it may be helpful to find out if they like love. If they do, and most people really like the idea of love, the door just opened as how could it be detrimental to hear about love for an hour? What will it hurt? Who will it hurt or, better still, who could benefit? This has long been a tool in the toolbox to get someone to attend a church service. It seems this chapter is brining this idea to the fore so this particular tool can be brushed off and put to use!
In this one chapter the word, or a derivative of, “love” is used 30+ times! That’s what one could call repetitive!

I John 4 NKJV
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
19 We love Him because He first loved us.
20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
